At PortsMed, our passion is your health. We know how important health care is, and we understand how difficult it can be to access. We aim to provide rapid, high quality primary care services to our community, to bridge the gap between over-run GP and Emergency/ Urgent Care Centres and the highly expensive, less local, private alternatives. We know how many people are struggling to access the care they need, from simple one-off examinations or procedures to comprehensive investigations, and we want to help.

We are unique in the area in providing this service, and we aim to do it in a calm, relaxing environment. We will provide face-to-face physical examination, investigations, tailored treatments and follow up care. Investigations include blood and microbiology tests, (with some results available onsite in as little as 20 minutes), and using an established London laboratory. All clinicians have access to specific diagnostic equipment, plus quick and affordable treatments such as joint injections and minor surgery. We will also make specialist referrals and all clinicians can arrange specialist imaging such as MRI scans.

All our clinicians have worked in the local area for many years and feel we have a thorough understanding of what patients want and need, and we have listened to their concerns and frustrations.

What is the difference between a practitioner and a doctor?

GP- Fully qualified doctor, with specialist training in General Practice. Can prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions. GP can discuss and interpret investigation results in depth.

Practitioner- Nurse/ Paramedic, Trained to Advanced level can assess, diagnose and manage patients independently. All of our practitioners are able to prescribe medications and order all investigations such as MRI scans.

Do you have disability access and facilities?

Yes, our facilities are fully accessible, with a dedicated lift and disability-friendly toilet to ensure all patients can visit comfortably.
